I’m just your friendly neighborhood senpai—winning over kouhai, one day at a time.

I’ve been watching anime for quite a while now. Way back in 1996 a friend introduced me to a film called Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and I’ve been steeped in otaku culture ever since. That’s how it started for me; not your average introduction to the medium for a child—especially a 6-year-old child—of the ’90s to be sure.

Over the years I’ve seen the industry and the culture change, in both good ways and bad. I’ve watched as the medium of anime grew from a relatively niche fandom (back in the days when many people still referred to it as “Japanimation”) in the West, to a point where it’s reached the cusp of mainstream acceptance. So much so, in fact, that you’d be hard pressed these days to find someone under the age of 45 in the West who hasn’t at least heard of anime or manga.

…But enough of my blathering nostalgia! You wanna know about me, right?

I have rather varied tastes when it comes to the anime I watch and the manga and light novels I read. One day I might be in the mood for a lighthearted, slice of life comedy, and the next day I’ll be searching for a heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thriller, and the next day I’ll get horny and fap to catgirl yuri…

Like I said, varied tastes.

The one element I find myself drawn to more than any other is that of character. Good characters make good shows, movies, manga, and light novels. I tend to review and analyse anime and manga through the lens of its characters—their strengths and weaknesses, relations and motivations, appearance and personality, etc. It’s also my belief that a single great character can save a mediocre, lackluster show or movie.

It’s my hope that you come to know me through my varied tastes and opinions, which I’m all too eager to share at a moment’s notice. But, more than anything, it’s my greatest wish that you all eventually come to share an opinion that I’ve held for several years: that School Days is the WORST anime of all-time.

If you wanna know more about the anime and manga I both love and hate, feel free to check out my MAL profile.
